RS 394 Zen Buddhism:Learn to Meditate42112This 1-unit course takes place over the course of a month with an opening session held at the Arcata Zen Center. Basic instruction and support will be provided to learn how to meditate and engage in practice in the Soto Zen tradition.
RS 394 Engaged Buddhism42113Engaged Buddhism, or socially engaged Buddhism, is a movement that draws upon Buddhist practice and philosophy to support social activism and the needs of the present moment. In this weekend course students will learn from and engage in practice with representatives from Buddhist chaplaincy and local hospice/grief work as well as the Boundless Freedom Project and Project Rebound (two groups that support incarcerated and formerly incarcerated populations).
