CSV Data Files

 

The email you just received contains an attached, comma-separated-value file with Banner data about the students.  The first line in the file contains the column names.  Every other line contains information about one student.  We hope this format will provide you with the maximum flexibility to use the data you have requested.  With a little practice, you should be able to easily use this file to:         

format and print lists and reports with Microsoft Excel, or.
generate labels or personalized letters or emails with Microsoft Word.  If you have requested contact information, this email may also contain common merge templates to simply this process even further.

The file can also be loaded into Microsoft Access or other business productivity software tools.

 

A data dictionary for the fields included in this file is available, as well as complete documentation about the communication jobs.

 

PLEASE NOTE:  Data in Banner is constantly changing.  The file attached to this message contains dated information.   Please use it right away and do not store it in a permanent local database.  You should request updated data the next time you wish to use it.  If your data file came from a job you submitted, rerun it.  Otherwise, you may request it again at www.humboldt.edu/~enroll/datarequest.  Thank you. 

 

ALSO NOTE:  If you have requested this data for the purpose of surveying students, you should be aware that Federal regulations mandate that such research must be evaluated by an Institutional Review Board.  For more information, please refer to Human Subjects Forms.
