RS 393 Compassion Studies21656Compassion is the bedrock of all Buddhist teachings, yet techniques and the concept of compassion has shifted over time from monastic, ascetic contexts to Buddhist influences in the modern health and wellness industry. This course will examine the classic text, The Path of the Bodhisattva by Santideva, in conjunction with modern studies on how compassion works, with additional materials drawn from Buddhist sutras and commentaries, psychology, and cognitive science.
